A Leader of the 'we' generation

"The sweeping victory of Barack Obama ushers in a new era of leadership that will affect every aspect of American institutions and that sounds a death knell for the top-down, power-oriented leadership prevalent in the 20th century." ~by Bill George, Businessweek.

Interesting times we are living at! By facing new era of authentic leadership and 'we' attitude emerging within business and political communities, we - WE ALL - may hope that future will be colored in bright colors.

I personally always wanted to be a part of history when inspirational stories of great inventors, travelers, leaders - EXTRA-Ordinary people! - are a part of my everyday life and not just old-time stories from history books.

As I think over Bill's article [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28693786/], I gain more and more confidence that the time has come to see more A.Einsteins, M.L.Kings, brothers Wright, and many other bigdreamers driving positive change... at least, I hope so.

Was curious as well to evaluate what characteristics and tactics helped Barack Obama to win the toughest battle, defeating the heir apparent in his own party and then go on to hold off the much-vaunted Republican machine. Well, as an added - and so important! - value to his campaign were not only his outstanding public speaking skills, but his sense of marketing and self-positioning.

Some people know what to say, some how to say it, some how to act in times of crisis, some how to be that face that represents the whole nation on the global arena. Less know how to be all at once. Would recommend to read John Quelch's article "The Marketing of President" [http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/6081.html] published at HBS blog that describes the steps that were taken by Obama to build up a bond of trust and well-trusted personal brand.

Though, I would repeat myself, time will show the true greatness and 'yes, he can' outcome. For now, let's stay tuned [http://obama.alltop.com/] and do our own small personal impact of positive change ;)
